We understand these times are stressful and please know we are in the trenches with you. Over the past few years, Knox was using a popular hedge that created too much whipsaw for the average investor to follow. This means the number of times an investor needed to enter/exit was far too great for someone with a full-time job or a less active style to follow.
In January, Knox reached out to Vincent Duchaine on our site to build a hedging system that would protect our members in steep drawdowns. Knox was working overtime on figuring out how to take care of the community and he recognized that Vincent, a robotics engineer, would potentially make a great partner. This kind of critical thinking occurs precisely because it’s also our money on the line and the analysts on our team have nothing less than an enormous amount of concern for the stock investors on our site. We are always thinking of how we can improve – for your portfolio’s sake and for our portfolio’s sake.
The hedging system went live about 2 and ½ weeks ago and it’s been working as intended. I want to emphasize it’s for the less active investor, the long-term buy and hold investor, the investor who has a full-time job and those who cannot trade every day. It was designed to reduce whipsaw and our hope is that even the more conservative/LTBH investors on our site attend the webinar on Thursday and/or watch the replay.
Please note, we do believe growth will come back, as we have been net buyers in high quality stocks that are participating in critical growth and technology trends. We also believe that the hedge signal Vincent has designed for tech portfolios will be an invaluable signal to better manage risk when the next drawdown happens, and further help members raise cash, as well as prepare for whatever the market brings us next.
A Quick Introduction to Vincent Duchaine:
Vincent is a professor in the Department of System Engineering at École de technologie supérieure in Montreal since 2010. His research in the field of collaborative robotic, predictive system and AI, which began during his studies at Laval University and Stanford University, continues today in collaboration with several universities and companies around the world. He is one of the Co-founders of Robotiq, a leader and pioneer of the collaborative robot market that has been listed since 2012 as one of the 50 most influential robotics companies in the world.
